Distance learning differs from the traditional forms by its flexibility and the possibility to study at convenient time and place and at a convenient pace.

Simultaneous resort to many sources of educational information (electronic libraries, data banks, methodological and teaching resources allocated in the Lotus instruction system). Communication through communication networks with instructors and students.

Distance learning increases the role of the instructor, who should coordinate the cognitive process, constantly improve and update teaching material, increase the creative activity and improve professional skill in accordance with latest innovations.

Description of the system of distributed distance learning on the base of the IAPM
The system of distributed distance learning created on the base of the IAPM forms an educational environment, where three main modes function – 1) asynchronous coeducation; 2) synchronous coeducation; and 3) self-instruction. The instructors, designers, and administrators of the system are provided with a full set of means enabling them to create and actualize the courses at all levels of the learning process.
